Migrant Workers Being Told No To Work In Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand: Thailand have been laying down the law, and are cracking down on workers, migrant workers, from neighboring countries such as Vietnam and China.

Why? Well they believe that the migrant workers are stealing jobs that belong to Thai people. Earlier this year in Phuket there was outrage in Phuket as Chinese tour guides were accused of stealing the Thai tour guides jobs. And in one case at a Chinese wedding in Thailand, a Chinese wedding photographer was detained for not having a work permit.

Just this week the police force and troops raided supermarkets in Bangkok and arrested migrant workers from Myanmar (formerly Burma). Reutuers had reported Thai immigration police Chief Nathon Phrosunthorn as saying:
We have recieved many complaints about illegal immigrants working in markets including Vietnamese and even South Asians who were stealing jobs from Thai's'
In a ruling made by Thailand in 2015 - Vietnamese Citizens who want to work in Thailand can only work as manual labourers in Thailand's fishing or construction industries.

As Thailand's economy becomes richer more people from the poorer neighbors are working in Thailand as illegal or legal workers: READ The Full Story Here

Travel Thailand - British Overstay Blacklisted For 5 Years

Chonburi, Thailand: British Man Blacklisted From Thailand For 5 Years

A man believed to be from England has been caught overstaying on his Visa. Although the current rules are now in place, some foreigners think they are untouchable. Including this foolish British man.
Image Source Pattaya Mail Dot Com
He has overstayed his Visa by 106 days approximately 3.5 months. Enough time to do as he likes whilst flying under the radar - unnoticed.
Chonburi Immigration officers stopped the British man as he was acting very suspicious in his behabiour. They found him on Walking Street.
The British mans name is Matthew Joseph Love, aged 32 years old.
His passport showed he had a 30 day visa exemption stamp - and he overstayed by such a long period of time. Under new Thai Immigration law they are allowed to ban foreigners for any amount of time that they like.
If you are overstay-ing your best chance is to hand yourselves in as by doing this you can get a very short ban of 1 year. If you keep overstaying like Matthew Joseph Lowe and then they catch you, they will ban you on their terms. Best bet is not to overtay!

Phuket Immigration Form 2016 - Thailand News 2016

Phuket Immigration Form For Foreigners (Aliens) - Thailand News 2016

From May, Phuket Immigration has enforced a new 'mandatory' form for foreigners to complete. The immigration form must be filled out accurately or the foreigner will be punished via the Penal Code.

The form asks for many details from the foreigner including; social media accounts, email addresses, and even bank accounts. It asks for details of parents and other family members. It asks for details of transport of the foreigner, and also the places that they will frequent whilst holidaying in Thailand.

This form is a 3 page form. On each page it states that 'Providing false information to an officer, shall be punished under the Penal Code.

Quoted below is what it reads at the top of the form:

“This form shall be used for making record of information of every alien entering and staying in the Kingdom of Thailand and shall be submit with Notification of residences for Aliens (section 37, 38 of Immigration Act, BE, 2522), or 90-days notification, or Extension of Stays (all purposes), or Re-entry Permits, or in all cases involving alien labors.”
If you are planning just a short holiday then this form is not mandatory. Only those that are applying for Visa extensions need to fill this out, whether it be work, longer vacation, or even for retirement.
'If a foreigner doesn’t want to fill in their information by themselves, they will be questioned for our records anyway. If they don’t fill in the form, we will suspect their reason.' - General Chachaval
There are optional parts on the form and required parts. Under the optional parts comes the social media accounts, and under the required part is the bank details. Is this really the right way?

Foreigners who stay in Thailand for a long period of time such as pensioners, would have already provided things such as bank details, as you have to show proof of how much money you have via a bank statement when applying for certain visas.

The Thai General also states the following about how they will keep your details safe:
'We will keep all details provided on a secure server and they will only be shared with other law-enforcement agencies when needed' - General Chachaval

This is all abit suprising as this March saw a technical error if one of their servers which then led to thousands of foreigners details being leaked online.

How long will this last? Will this work? Who knows? Lets wait and see.

Hard Rock Cafe Been Rockin South East Asia For 25 Years - Pattaya

Hard Rock Cafe Asia -  Truck Tour in Pattaya 2016

Pattaya: A few days ago the Hard Rock café stopped by at its Pattaya shop in Thailand. Hard Rock Cafe is celebrating 25 years of trading in South East Asia. And to celebrate this have organized a Truck Tour of all the Cafe's that it has.
On the 19th of May the Truck was parked at the T Junction on the Beach Road in Central Pattaya. The tour will continue until July.

The truck showcases some of the Hard Rock Cafe's most famous dishes, and shows customers how to make the perfect burger. Of course there will be the countries style of burger, in Thailand's case they had things like beef krapaw and fried egg burger, double pork schnitzel and mustard sauerkraut (which originates from Germany).
These burgers are quite expensive, I must say, but all proceeds will go to a special project "Rock The School' which is a special organization for exceptionally gifted students. If you have missed the chance to see the truck just pop into your local Hard Rock Cafe where they will still have the special recipes available.
Of course this is a global tour and south East Asia is just one stop off for the tour. Hard Rock Cafe has restaurants located all over the world including Europe, South America, North America, Africa, Australia, and even China. Thailand currently have four located in the tourist areas of Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, and Koh Samui.

Leicester City Rewarded By Owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha

Leicester City (FC) Players Rewarded For Their Amazing Season

With the EPL season nearly over and a few shocks to say the least. Many football fans cannot believe what has happened over at Leicester City Football Club. They came into the 2016 season with bad odds of winning the title. But they went and done it, and in two weeks time will be crowned the Champions of the Premier League.

EPL Champions 2016

The generosity of their Billionaire Thai Owner Vichar Srivaddhanaprabha has been amazing. He has treated all the fans with utmost respect - and bought all the travelling fans beers, not just once this season but a few times. Things like that are hugely appreciated by fans who sometimes spend their entire monthly savings just to go and watch their favorite boys play football.
It was reported today by the Dailymail (in the UK) that owner has gone and surprised all the footballers with a special reward for the winning this premier league season. He will be giving them - a entire 30 man squad - a car. They will all receive the same car a Mercedes B-Class Electric Drive. This will cost the Thai owner nearly 1 million pounds! He really is a very rich man.
Another promise he made earlier on in the season was, if they won, he would pay for an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas. The Foxes should be really happy with all that they have achieved. It seems that with a bit of good luck from Buddha and the monks, you can actually win the title - Van Gaal are you listening! One final thing they will receive is a 6.5 million pound bonus - which will be split between the squad. Happy days boys.
Next season with Champions League football on the calendar. The Foxes will be very very busy. I'm not sure they can emulate their success from this season. This season was all a bit strange. Especially with Chelsea the 2015 title winners, not even in the race for Top 4. Live for the moment Foxes, it has been well deserved, next year who knows what will happen! Will Gall quit United? Will Jose be back managing a team in the EPL? Will Liverpool ever give anything to their fans to celebrate? What do you think?

Big C Prices

Prices for goods at the Big C are very reasonable for a supermarket. You can buy many groceries and dry foods here including Thai and Western products. As a rule of thumb always expect imported goods to cost a little more than the Thai counterparts. Remember if you are after electrical goods, you cannot haggle in a Big C, like many supermarkets at home their prices are fixed, no haggling, you penny pinching shoppers. Although, like most supermarkets they hold promotional offers for many perishable and non-perishable products.

Big C Shopping List (Prices)

Below we have chosen some products and have given you some prices to compare. All prices are correct as of April 2016. Most of the items listed are imported so they will be a little higher in price than Thai groceries or Big C's own brands.

Food Prices Big C Shopping (Price) List

Thai Danish Milk UHT 250 - 129 thb
Kraft Salad Sandwich Spread 16oz - 101 tbh

Big C Brown Sugar 500g - 25 thb

Bon Aroma Instant Coffee Gold 100g - 139thb

3 in 1 Nescafe (Red) - 120 thb

Tim Tams Milk Chocolate Biscuit - 36 thb

We've also decided to add some electrical goods. So if you are moving to Thailand you can get a vague idea of what to expect when shopping in one of Big C's stores. Again, it is a good idea to expect to pay a high price for imported electric goods such as mobile phones or household appliance's.

Electrical Goods Shopping (Price) List

Toaster Phillips Model HR2595 - 750 thb

Toaster: Phllips Model HR2595

Otto Electric Kettle Model PT-105a - 299 thb

Big C Delivery Bangkok and Thailand

Big C offer deliveries for their customers. Or you can order online and pick up in store. Usually online orders deliveries can take up to 24 hours. You can even order through their call center by dialing 1756 from inside Thailand. Orders over 1500 thb have the free delivery promotion, if you order items and the final price is under 1500 thb you will incur a small delivery fee.

Big C BIG Card

If you are familiar with western Supermarkets such as Tesco or Sainsburys you will be aware (like me) that they offer promotional cards such as Tesco Clubcard Points. Big C are doing the same. The more you shop, the more points you can accumulate. This then turns into money off vouchers for your shopping.
To get a Big C Big Card you can call the call center on 1756 or you can download an application form from their website. I strongly suggest that if you can't speak Thai, then give them a call - most can speak some English and can help you with your request. Happy Shopping :)

Big C Vietnam

Big C have a variety of their supermarkets located in Vietnam, so if your doing a bike trip from the north to the south, then this might be of great convenience to you. Back in 2003 and 3 Big C managed to take over an old chain of supermarkets in Vietnam. This led to the Big C invasion of 'nam. Just like in Thailand, this company is thriving in Vietnam. 'It's the Same Same But Different'.

Big C Vietnam Stores

In A Nutshell

I love Big C and I couldn't imagine Thailand without it, especially on them days where you feel like you want to be at home. Just go to Big C, buy some imported products and you'll get that taste of home to pick you up again. I remember a funny experience at a Big C in Bangkok in 2013 - I was looking at the DVD section and I could see some adult movies in one of them promotional boxes. There was no attempt to hide the adult movies. Good old Big C. We love you. Happy Shopping readers.

The Bangkok Post reported that at the scene were burnt out tires and petrol home-made bombs this suggested that the humans had been made to put a tire around them whilst being burnt.

The bones were discovered after local bush fires had uncovered them. Reporters from a national TV station Channel 9 had been reporting about the bush fires, this led to the find. Which then led onto local police that went to investigate the unidentified bones.

Zero Dollar Tour Groups Will Be Banned

Thailand News: Zero Dollar Tour Groups To Be Banned

It was reported earlier on in the week that tour operators were unhappy with tour groups from outside Thailand from places such as Russia, China, and Korea. They were unhappy because basically these tour operators were stealing the Thai tour operators trade.
Earlier on in the week saw Thai tour guides get together in Phuket and protest about this 'Touring' situation. These outside tour groups are offering everything the Thai's offer but at a lower price. This undercuts the Thai workers. Don't disgruntle the Thai's!
We will advise of reasonable tour package prices to countries like China, South Korea, Russia and others where many tour groups originate so that they can check the groups before they depart for Thailand.... If their tour package fees are lower than the identified prices, the travel should be banned.'
Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd spokesperson for the local government.

This is only fair, after all such countries as China and Korea have developed so quickly over recent years that their citizens have more expenditure to waste whilst on holiday. That's what holidays are about aren't they? Wasting money and having a great time.
Many of the tour operators from outside of Thailand that operate zero-dollar tours will generally force their customers and clients, once they are in Thailand, to go to expensive gift shops and buy a lot of expensive things. Often jewelry shops and suit makers are partnered up with these tour operators. Many profits made in Thailand did not stay in the Kingdom said the Major General.
So basically these companies are ripping off the Thai's and not even leaving the money in the country. I am so glad that the government of Thailand are starting to stamp out this problem. Thai's need to live good lives and without the tourism, how can they make a decent living?
'The prime minister ordered serious solutions to the problem. Information of all zero-dollar tour firms has been gathered. Initially the number of tourist arrivals may drop but the focus is on quality, not quantity," the government spokesman said. "If the problem is not solved by this government, it will be difficult to do so later because most big Thai operators benefiting from it are close to political groups.'

Pattaya News: Russian Arrested For Dealing in Counterfeit Goods

Russian Arrested in Pattaya - Pattaya News 2016

Pattaya Police raided a print express store on Tuesday 11th April 2016. The store was located in Southern Pattaya at 143/84, Soi 10, Thepprasit Road. Police had received a tip off that the print shop was operating as a place that counterfeited documents and other kinds of forgeries.

Pattaya News
Image - source:  Pattaya One

Originally the police received a tip off that the print shop was producing forgeries of driving license, local Police Colonel Prapansak Prasansook told his lieutenant Rattapong Tearsood that he must set up surveillance and execute a sting using undercover police officers..

Read More: Vietnam Visa For Americans Update 2016
For the arrest to take place they needed to execute the sting and gather more evidence. When they were ready the police and soldiers from the Nawamin Rachinee army camp in Chonburi raided the business premises.
Upon entering the print shop in Pattaya the first floor was empty but they proceeded to the second floor where they found a certain Russian man, Mr Ruslan Galliamove, 29 sitting with his Thai wife and 4 other Russian citizens.

Seems like the Russians are giving themselves a bad name in Phuket. When will foreigners learn that wether it be drugs, or counterfeit products, you cannot commit a crime in an unfamiliar country and expect to get away with it. Maybe he will spend a lot of time in Thai jail! Although the Russian did amit and confess to his wrong doing maybe he will get a hefty fine, and a lifetime ban from Thailand.

Songkran Festival 2016 Tragedy Over 50 People Died

Songkran Festival 2016 - 52 People Died

Bangkok 2016 - 52 people were killed and another 431 people have been injured in 387 car accidents on the 1st day of the annual Songkran Festival. There was a road safety campaign that was also launched on the first day of Songkran.

36 per cent of the traffic accidents were speeding this was out of 387 accidents. The next highest cause was drunk driving. If you have ever been to Songkran festival you will have noticed many people drink and drive and throw water from their cars. The percentage for drink driving was  26.8 percent.

Motorcycles counted for almost 80 percent of the accidents. As we all know every man and his dog has a motorbike in Thailand which is a good thing as long as they are not drink driving or speeding. Pick ups accounted for just over 10 per cent of the accidents. People love using pick up trucks at Songkran as they can load lots of water onto the back of the pick up.

Many of the people killed and the injured were working citizens of Thailand.

Chang Mai also topped the list with most incidents occurring on the roads.

Thailand's transport ministry and the police have done there utmost to prevent accidents especially at this time of the year. They set up over 2000 checkpoints across Thailand on the 11th April. This was to keep an eye on traffic to prevent masses of incidents.

Checkpoint stats:  2128 road checkpoints
                              528903 vehicles checked
                              84,724 legal action
                              25,651 had no driving license.
                              23,354 didn't wear helmets

'police in the provinces were instructed to facilitate traffic flow and to ensure road safety today which is the last working day in anticipation of more people leaving Bangkok.'
                                                 - Pol Lt-Gen Anan Srihirun, Assistant National Police Chief

Council for Peace and Order, foremost of all is the measure to clamp down on reckless driving, speeding and drunk driving.

EXO Concert 2016 - Shanghai March 27th - K-Friends

EXO Concert in Shanghai - Fanboys and Fangirls Not Happy - K-Friends

On the 27th March 2016 EXO (the famous KPOP - Group from Asia) really let down their fans by not sticking to their arrangement of the gig.

The concert was called K-Friends the organizers stated the show would be held on Sunday 27th March 2016 from 7.30pm until 20.30pm. All EXO members would be performing on the evening of the concert and they would perform a told of ten songs. - SINA (Chinese News)

How much is a ticket to an EXO concert?

Well, the price for the tickets for this show were an incredible 4000 yuan to 6000 yuan (£400 - £600). In this day and age that is still massively overpriced for a concert. But fans paid it and should have got what was advertised. You can fly to England for that much! KPOP is raking it in.
One representative of the concert organizer revealed during an interview with Sina about not entering a contract with the major agency, SM Entertainment."We did not sign a contract with SM Entertainment directly," the representative said, as reported by K-Pop Herald."Instead, there was a third party, but they (didn’t follow) the contract. They did not even show up for the show and we were not able to reach the agency as well."The representative further revealed that the organizers just followed orders and that they will take action regarding refunding tickets to the fans."We just advertised as we were told by them. We even crossed Lay off the list after we heard the news of his absence. Specific details of the ticket refunds will be announced later on." reported by
Now, I don't understand much about this K-POP lark, why do people love it so much? Why do people spend so much on tickets? I hope some of these people get refunds. Even one of the band members didn't show up to the concert, his name is Lay. Lay is from China, so you'd expect him to show up. Other members come from Korea (the South).  Lets just hope they make it to their concert in Bangkok on April 11th.

Tourists To Be Banned From Driving Thailand News

Bangkok, Thailand - Tourist Banned From Driving in Thailand - News 2016

Of late there has been a huge amount of foreign tourists driving cars around Thailand. Specifically entering from the North where Thailand meets China. Thailand have now decided to ban tourists from ruling there roads.

Credit -

The problem is that many China tourists come into Thailand to gain driving licences as they are easier to come by, than mainland China. The easiest option for the Chinese particularly those that live on the border of Thailand, is to come to Thailand and get themselves a driving license in a short amount of time.

Banning all foreign tourists from driving in Thailand, is not the best idea. One option is to ban some tourists from getting Driving Licenses in Thailand, this would stop the surge of Chinese coming through.
The ban is meant to enforce order said Land Transport Department Chief Sanit Phromwong
Tourists will be aloud to make requests to drive in Thailand through Thailand Tourist Operators. They will have to sumbit requests and paperwork ten days before entering Thailand. Tourists will receive special cards (permitting the vehicle to drive in Thailand) and will cost 500 baht. The length of the vehicle permit will be 30 days, after this the vehicle owner can re-enter Thailand again for 30 more days - the yearly limit is 60 days. The rules haven't come into effect at the time of writing.

There's only 3 countries that are exempt from this rule, which are Laos, Malaysia and Singapore.

Many Chinese tourists like to drive their cars into Thailand, but that will not happen in the future said Chief Sanit Phromwong.
