The Journey...Coventry - London - Oman Airways - Bangkok

Fly With Oman Airways - Heathrow To BKK

London - Oman - Bangkok

This was a long trip. Starting in Coventry, I took the National Express, which cost me £20 to London Heathrow, which was a good price, I think. Plus I didn't have to deal with trains and changeovers and The Underground. Buses all the way!

London Heathrow To Oman

Arriving at Heathrow Terminal 3, I realised, this is it i'm off, bye-bye England. The terminal at the airport was crazy, purple fluorescent lights everywhere. Because of my timings I managed to check-in easily with no queuing. When I went outside for a cigarette there was a massive que!!!

I flew with Oman Airway's and had to fly via Oman, surprisingly! Oman airways planes are awesome! They had TV screens on the back of the seats. The TV screen had games and films programmed into it. I had a cheeky game of Pac Man and Street Fighter before proceeding to watch Men In Black 3. I was loving it! They fed the passengers to a high standard, and were always helpful.

The only downside was the girl sitting next to me, she kept falling asleep and leaning towards me, she was hot to which made things difficult if she was to awake sleeping on me!!! We then arrived in Oman, the only way I can describe Oman is a desert with lots of oil rigs, it was so hot getting off the plane.

The one thing I really wanted was a cigarette and to my surprise, they had a smoking room. Which when you walk in was like inhaling 50 cigs in one go. It reminded me of factory work which I used to do when I was younger, in the breaks we'd run to the smoking room! One hour later I was boarding the flight for the last leg of the journey, this flight was 5 hours...which I slept this time.

5 hours later I hit Bangkok! The airport was huge I was surprised at the scale of it. When I got to passport control, the officer's weren't happy because I didn't have a return ticket booked to leave the country. I was with them for 20 minute's explaining that the Thai Embassy in Birmingham, had told me it was okay to get a single ticket as I already had my 60 day visa, the airline also had said this.

Eventually I stated I was going to Australia afterwards, and they let me through. This was slightly worrying for me, thought I may get arrested, plus the officer's looked tough! I was also surprised that I was allowed to walk straight through customs in Bangkok without getting searched, not even my hand luggage!
