Guest House Number 1 - Amazing House - Review - Bangkok

Amazing House Review in BKK

The guest house I visited is based not far from the infamous Khoa San Road. And for those of you who don't know Khoa San Road is a tourist hotspot with nightclubs, bars, and restaurants. The night life goes on all night long, party, party, party. Which is why I liked staying at Amazing House, away from all the noise.

It's set among the local community. Over the road there's a restaurant, bar, and an old lady who cooks the best food in Bangkok. The guest house doesn't cook in-house. But they let you order from over the road and eat it in the lobby area. Not many tourists come down this neck of the woods, and its nice to outside, have a smoke a coffee and people watch. Its not overly busy so it's good as you don't feel like you're in the manic, busy, over-populated Bangkok.

The rooms are basic, bed, fan, lock, which is all you need on a budget trip. I spent most days downstairs sitting on the tables at the front of the guest house, socialising with other guests.

The staff are very friendly, Mr Art the owner, he will bend over backwards for you and make sure you have a good stay - he's very good at English too. There's two cleaner's mother and daughter who don't speak english, but are still very friendly.

The price, most guests paid 200baht, I paid 350baht as tourist information took a high commision. Its not the gueshouse's fault. Converting it to English I paid £7.50 whilst overs paid £4. Which isn't bad either way, but I think I paid the most and got the smallest room, just my luck! The walls are thin! The english girl told me she could hear her neigbours getting jiggy with it (nah, nah, nah, nah, nah-nah). But I thought at least I couldn't hear them!

n a nut shell if you're after a hotel with a roof top pool, and t.v - go to Khoa San Road. But if you want somewhere in the community that's very cheap, with friendly people who will help you out with anything, come to Amazing house - furthermore its a ten minute walk from Khoa San.
