Mental Man Targets Bystander in Bangkok

A mentally challenged Thai man was arrested for beating a stranger in Lat Pharo in Bangkok.

The video clips went viral after the attack happened and police approached the alleged attacker at 111 Soi Lat Phrao. He wanted to flee but police managed to change his mind and then arrested him. Clever police. The attack happened last Tuesday and was captured on local CCTV.

Pol Maj-General Sanit Mahathavorn, deputy commander of Provincial Police Region 1, revealed after interrogating Theerapong that he could be charged with committing a public offence but if a complaint was not filed with police the case could be commuted because of the homeless man's mental disorders. - The Nation

Sanit said Theerapong had wandered around Lat Pharo for several years drinking alcohol and sometimes becoming aggressive towards passers-by. You would think that in this day and age somebody would of helped this poor man.

Previously he had been detained at mental institutions inside Srithanya and Maesuai hospitals.

"Families or relatives should not let people with mental disorders live alone," he added

Dr Panpimol Wipulakorn, deputy director of Department of Mental Health, said-

Theerapong moved to Bangkok looking for work and was treated for his mental illness at Srithanya Hospital this year. People with mental disorders tend to dread people and people who got close to them could be considered a threat and attacked.

Bangkok Bombing Update 2015

Thailand have now trebled the reward money for information leading to the arrest of the Bangkok bomber, this reward now stands at 3 million Thai Baht (£53,000).

Prime Minister Prayuth said he would "expedite all investigations to bring perpetrators to justice"

Thai TV Made A Fool Of Themselves

On Wednesday Nation TV station sent a look a like dressed in yellow to the scene of the bombing. This was an outragous and un-thoughtful thing to do. Nation TV have accepted they are wrong and have apologised. They also stopped filming when they saw the distress it was causing to the pubic - they shouldn't ever of done this. As a national TV station they ignored their responsibility to the public.

Nation Broadcasting Corporation president Adisak Limprungpatanakij said the plan was made 'without consideration for the sensitivity of the public and with disrespect for the dead'.

He said the station would consider disciplining those responsible.
